The study aimed to investigate the role of heat shock protein 70 as a diagnostic biomarker for Iraqi patients with colorectal cancer and benefit from the advantages of Newcastle virus as a virus that is not pathogenic to humans and has a great ability to replace many types of cancer cells. bypassing normal cells.
The study revealed that heat shock protein 70 inhibitor and virus individually inhibit proliferation and growth, reduce cell viability, and cause morphological changes and apoptosis in colorectal cancer cell lines.
The results of the combination treatment showed that the synergy between the virus and the inhibitor produced a significant antitumor effect greater than the effect of monotherapy with either of them, and their combination led to a greater inhibition of cell viability, increased cellular morphological changes, and increased induction of apoptosis in treated colorectal cancer cell lines. However, this treatment was relatively safe for healthy cells.
This study concluded that heat shock protein 70 may be a novel biomarker for colorectal cancer in Iraqi patients, and extracellularly released heat shock protein 70 is a good biomarker of immune tolerance and chemotherapy resistance for colon cancer patients.
